A new spell of unsettled weather is heading for Sardinia, driven by warm, humid Scirocco winds that will also push temperatures up. The first rain is forecast for tomorrow, mainly in the afternoon and evening.

Thursday looks like the day with the highest risk. Heavy, persistent rain and thunderstorms may start in the early hours and continue for much of the day, with showers repeatedly crossing the same areas. The east coast is likely to be hit hardest, especially Ogliastra, the Gulf of Orosei, Baronia and Gallura, though forecasters say it is still unclear exactly where the worst rain will fall.

If you are traveling in these areas, plan flexibly and keep checking forecast updates and any official Protezione civile notices.
