Trattoria Locanda Stella sits on Via Roma in Monti, a quiet village in the Gallura region of northeastern Sardinia, around twenty minutes from Olbia. The restaurant has been in the same family since 1958, when it was opened by Nonna Peppina under the name Trattoria Pensione Tre Stelle. Her daughter Maria Teresa Chessa took over the kitchen in 1984 and runs it today alongside her son Valerio.
The cooking is rooted in Gallurese tradition. Fresh pasta β gnocchi, bucatini, and ricotta ravioli β is rolled by hand each morning, and meat, cheese, and vegetables come from small producers in the territory of Monti. Local Vermentino di Gallura and Cannonau wines accompany the meal. A full four-course dinner is priced at under β¬35 per person, and guests are offered a complimentary mirto or limoncello to finish.
The dining room is small, with a fireplace and a relaxed atmosphere. Reservations are advisable.
