Pozzo sacro Milis is a nuragic sacred well located in Via Cala Moresca, close to the railway station of Golfo Aranci in Gallura. The monument dates back to the end of the Middle Bronze Age and remained in use through the Late Bronze Age and into the Iron Age, making it one of the areaâs older archaeological traces.
The well preserves its stepped staircase and an elliptical chamber built from carefully worked courses of schist, limestone and granite, with a distinctive stepped vault covering. Part of the structure was lost when the nineteenth-century railway was built nearby, and the well now sits awkwardly close to the tracks.
Visitors describe it as a striking piece of Sardiniaâs nuragic past, notable for its construction and the water still found within it, though reaching the site can be difficult due to limited signage and its surroundings.
